War memorials
A war memorial is a sculpture, a relief, a column or an artistic representation with a composition, created in honor of a person who has died or to commemorate an important event. The war memorial is usually dedicated to the fallen of a war, but also to the victims of a war as well as to commemorate the victims of a genocide.
The war memorials and the monuments often occupy a central place in the city, where they are located. They are near or in the main square of the city or in the city center. They can also often be found in the precincts of the cathedral or another large church in the city. Finally, war memorials and monuments are erected outside of cities, usually near or on the battlefields or theaters of the events they mention.
