The Sculptor

He was born in Athens in 1961.
At a young age, in 1976 he started his journey in the field of marble sculpture learning from his father Ioanni Georgiou. The sculptor and portraitist, who was awarded by the Greek Sculptors Association, introduced his son to the art of the marble and taught him the secrets of traditional sculpture.

From 1980 he studied at the School of Fine Arts, where he studied the rich in expressive world of sculpture, next to the renowned Dimitri Kalamara, his teacher and mentor. At the same time he continued his apprenticeship in the family workshop in Mets.
His intensive involvement with sculpture and marble carving, offered him a scholarship award in 1983 from the State Scholarship Foundation.
From 1992 and for five consecutive years, he was a member of the board of the Greek Sculpture Association and became a member of the Artistic Chamber of Greece, where he belongs until today. At the same time, in 1993 and for 9 years, he started teaching marble sculpture at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He took part in numerous group exhibitions at the Sculpture Association of Greece, in Olympia, in the National Garden under the auspices of the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Athens, at the "Ygeia" Hospital, in Tripoli, etc. A worshiper of classical art, he faithfully followed the methods of traditional sculpture, extending his technique to bronze and other materials.
The sculptor Nikos I. Georgiou is one of the few Greek sculptors, who even today follow the path of traditional sculpture to create their works. He creates classic works, including statues, war memorials, busts, reliefs, portraits and compositions, inspired by the values of Hellenism, tradition and orthodoxy. In his curriculum vitae are constantly added handmade creations of high classical sculpture, which adorn public spaces throughout Greece, private collections, as well as public spaces in Cyprus, in England, in the USA, as well as private collections worldwide.
